Adam

The first man God created.

Fruit Tree

God said you shall not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
(Gen 2:17)

Fourth century mosaic
from Caesarea

God created Adam from dust and placed him in the garden of Eden to till the earth. God told Adam that he could eat the fruit of every tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When God saw that it was not good for the man to be alone, he created Eve, the first woman. Eve ate the forbidden fruit then gave some to Adam who also ate it, then blamed Eve for making him do so. Because of his disobedience, God told Adam that he would labor hard for his food, eating bread by the sweat of his brow. To prevent Adam and Eve from eating from the tree of life so that they would live forever, God drove them out of the garden of Eden. Adam was the father of Cain and Abel.
