A
letter ascribed to Jeremiah that condemns
idolatry.
|
Roman Catholic Bibles include the Letter of Jeremiah
as the sixth chapter of the book of Baruch,
but Protestant Bibles often print it as a separate
book of the Apocrypha. The letter is ascribed
to the prophet Jeremiah and addressed
to the Jews who are about to be taken into exile.
The letter urges the people not to succumb to
idolatry in Babylon, and it denounces idols as
useless objects made by human hands, which cannot
provide help to those who worship them. |
