Ancient Philippi

Paul
wrote to
the Christians at Philippi while he was in prison. The book gives thanks
that despite his imprisonment the gospel is being proclaimed (1) and asks
that the Philippians look to the example of Christ, who emptied himself
and took the form of a slave (2). The last half of the book both warns
against seeking assurance in observance of the Torah and against laxity.
Paul exhorts Christians to press on in
hope of the resurrection (3-4).
